Sliding Scale Model

This sliding scale philosophy emphasizes that contributions should be based on one's ability rather than a fixed standard.

This approach acknowledges varying levels of resources and ensures that people can contribute what they have, fostering a culture of mutual support and shared responsibility.

By valuing community wealth as a collective resource built from diverse contributions, this philosophy promotes equitable access to opportunities and benefits for all.

Philosophy

The Green Bottle was adapted from Alexis J. Cunningfolk

I can always buy new items
I can afford an annual vacation or take time off

I may stress about meeting my basic needs but still regularly achieve them
Debt but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs
I own or lease a car
I am employed
I have access to health care
I might have access to financial savings
I have some expendable income
I am able to buy some new items and I thrift others
I can take a vacation without financial burden

Bottom of the Scale/Right Bottle

I frequently stress about meeting basic needs
I have debt and it prohibits me from meeting basic needs
I rent lower-end properties or have unstable housing
I do not have a car or I can’t always afford gas
I am unemployed or underemployed
I qualify for government assistance (e.g. food and health)
I have no access to savings
I have no or very limited expendable income
I rarely buy new items because I can’t afford them
I cannot afford a vacation or take time off without financial burden

This model is self report. When individuals fail to contribute appropriately (on any end of the scale), the balance of this model is disrupted. This imbalance can lead to personal and communal hardships impacting the ability of Somattyx to provide services.

Yogic principles at the core of Somattyx emphasize honesty, accessibility, and community. By embracing the sliding scale approach and recognizing the interconnected nature of community wealth, we contribute to a more equitable and harmonious community.

“The universe operates through dynamic exchange… giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. and in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.”
